Desiree Heckman, E-RYT 500
Desiree Heckman is the founder, owner and leader of Old Town Yoga in Clovis, CA. After earning her graduate degree in counseling, she transitioned to being a full-time stay at home mom. It was during this time that she fell in love with yoga and pursued becoming a yoga teacher. After completing her certification with Daniel Head and Travis Eliot in 2016 she went on to open the first yoga studio in Clovis, CA.
As a new teacher and new business owner, the first few of years running Old Town Yoga were packed full of intense learning and growing. In 2018 Desiree invited Travis Eliot to share his 200-hour YTT at Old Town Yoga and subsequently co-taught alongside him in 2019. She went on to complete her 300-hour YTT with Travis Eliot and Lauren Eckstrom in 2018-2019 and continually engages in continuing education courses including Philosophy with Judith Hansen Lasater, Study of the Yoga Rahasya with Sri Vatsa Ramaswami, The Accessible Yoga Conference, Anatomy with Tiffany Cruikshank and many others.
Being a lifelong learner is of the utmost importance to Desiree and that value influences much of her teachings. In addition to teaching full time since 2016, owning a yoga studio for nearly 5 years has provided invaluable insight to the industry. She is now eagerly looking forward to sharing all she has learned, alongside her Senior Teacher Linda Marie Hurst, through this Old Town Yoga YTT.
